In true Blue Force Gear fashion, we're highlighting another classic camouflage pattern, Frogskin Camo, with a nod to the past. Dating back to a US Army experiment in 1940, Frog Skin was created and first issued to Marine Raiders in 1942. Very different than the OD Green GI uniforms, Frogskin employed a mottled disruptive pattern similar to a frog. The irregular shapes and earth-toned colors help to break up the human silhouette across varied terrain for an effective camouflage. Similar and sometimes used interchangeably, "Duck Hunter" was referred to as a beach pattern with inverse colors featuring more brown and tan – getting its name from similarly colored contemporary waterfowl hunting patterns.

Contrary to historical folklore, the pattern was not phased out due to friendly fire incidents from being mistaken for the German Erbsenmuster pattern with a similar mottled design. Although some Army units fielded the pattern, it was primarily used by the Marines. Beyond military applications, it is an appreciated pattern by collectors and enthusiasts who see it as both historically significant and visually distinctive. This duality – being highly functional and steeped in Marine Corps heritage – has helped cement its place in the pantheon of legendary camouflage patterns.

The Quick Adjuster — Color-Matched Pull Tab

From patrol carry to firing position in one motion. The patented VCAS Quick Adjuster lets you instantly tighten or loosen the sling without removing it – the feature that made the Vickers Sling the gold standard in military use.

For this Frogskin edition, we’re pairing the multicam-style webbing with an OD Green pull tab and matching hardware for visual contrast and easy indexing, even with gloves. Same proven function, new historical twist.

Attachment Hardware Options

The Triglides / Base Model is the lightest and most streamlined version, designed without QD swivels. It threads directly through your weapon’s sling loops or pairs easily with add-on attachments like ULoops or HK hooks, making it a great option for shooters who already have preferred mounting hardware.

The Vickers 221 Sling configuration comes ready out of the box with push-button QD swivels installed at the front and rear, along with a Burnsed Socket that enables instant single-point conversion. This setup lets you run the sling in stable two-point mode and shift to single-point maneuverability when the situation demands it—no tools, no re-rigging.

Both versions use the same Frogskin-patterned webbing and Ranger Green hardware, so you get the full look and function no matter which attachment style you choose.

Built from premium Invista Cordura® webbing, bar-tacked for strength, and backed by Blue Force Gear’s Lifetime Warranty – if it ever fails due to manufacturing, we fix or replace it. No fine print.

Adjuster & Triglides — High-Strength Polymer Build

This sling uses our latest-gen DuPont Zytel® nylon hardware, trusted on tens of thousands of VCAS slings in military service. It delivers metal-like performance with less weight, won’t rust, won’t rattle, and handles both high heat and freezing temps without cracking.

The hardware is finished in Ranger Green to complement the Frogskin pattern – rugged, silent, and purpose-built for the field.
